The second issue of Freedom Line, published in January 2026, focuses on the “Lee Ming-che European Democratic Advocacy Tour”. In December 2025, Taiwanese human rights activist Lee Ming-che, who endured a five-year arbitrary imprisonment in China, embarked on a 13-day speaking tour across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

Organized by the New School for Democracy and other partners, the tour aimed to expose the reality of authoritarian expansion and cross-border repression to European civil societies. The issue documents the delegation’s engagements, including meaningful dialogues with Uyghur youth from the Uyghur Transitional Justice Database (UTJD) and writer Abduweli Ayup, where they explored shared experiences of resisting authoritarian threats.

The publication also highlights the severe impact of China’s transnational suppression on diaspora communities in the Nordic region. A dedicated column profiles Gui Minhai, a Swedish citizen and publisher who was repeatedly kidnapped by Chinese agents and wrongfully imprisoned. Discussions with Swedish journalist Kurdo Baksi emphasize the critical need for sustained international advocacy to combat these ongoing human rights violations.
